Manifest id browser support
Published
The id manifest member gives a PWA a stable identifier. Before id, browsers identified an installed app by its start_url, so changing start_url could make the browser treat the app as a new installation. When id is omitted, the browser uses the processed start_url (fragment removed, query string kept); an explicit id must be same-origin with start_url.
The table covers the member as recorded in MDN browser-compat-data.
